Dr. Weil’s 4-7-8 Breathing Exercise
I had the privilege of streaming a live conference last weekend put on by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, as a bonus for enrolling in the upcoming class that starts Monday — Yay! 🙂
One of the speakers was Dr. Andrew Weil an integrative doctor who is a strong promoter of natural practices. A big take away I got from his speech was a 4-7-8 breathing exercise that helps to lower stress, anxiety and pain — leaving the body in a relaxed state.
The breath is a powerful force within us that can naturally disrupt our nervous system (in a good way). We also release toxins with deep breaths. Yoga has truly taught me this power of the breath, as has meditation.
At the conference Dr. Weil said that he shares this 4-7-8 breathing practice with as many people as he can, for he wants to share this power of the breath, and he suggested that as participants, that we share this with as many people as we can.
So here is a clip of Dr. Weil explaining this practice. I hope that you implement it into you lives whenever you feel stressed, anxious, like you’re going to burst with unyielding negative emotion, wanting to double over in pain, or tossing and turning in bed…
On the Positive Side?
I’ve been doing this simple breathing exercise this past week and have found positive effects.
It has helped me to calm down and at times has prevented random tearful breakdowns that arrive at not the best times, Lol. This breathing exercise has helped me fall into restful sleep and awake to a new day 🙂
If you find success too, then please, please share this with as many people as you can.
With much love,
Aubree.
