Feeling Yucky from Toxic Kidneys

The past couple of weeks have been rough. I’ve been experiencing a lot of pain in my lower back and worst of all pain from my bladder.

There was a time not too long ago when I suffered with horrible bladder pain on a near daily basis that came along with a strong sense to pee all the time — Ick. (I am so sorry if you can relate to this — bladder pain is the worst).

When I experienced it a couple of days ago then my mind naturally shifted into detective mode. What caused the pain and inflammation down there?

My first thought was to test my urine to see where my PH levels were — perfectly balanced — not that….

There was a time when I followed the diet for Interstitial Cystitis so I am aware of trigger foods that can case bladder pain and inflammation. I ran through what I ate…. nothing bad?

Then it occurred to me — Kidney Cleanse.

For the past thirteen days I’ve been sipping on a kidney cleanse tea throughout the day. It is supposed to help free up stones and sand that build up in the kidneys and flush out toxins. It is recommended to cleanse the kidneys after three-four liver cleanses.

I can’t believe that I didn’t think of this major factor sooner. It totally explains the symptoms I’ve been having. Toxic kidneys can cause lower back pain and since the kidney’s waste exits from the bladder, it makes sense why mine has been sensitive.

What’s the Solution?

So I figured out the cause, but this didn’t really help the aches and pains. What’s the solution? It seems the release of toxins was causing other reactions in my body.

I’m doing the cleanse for twenty days so I have about a week to go. I considered stopping, but having come this far and obviously having a lot of toxic build up in my kidneys, I decided to push forward (though counting each day, Lol).

Then things got much worse. I woke up with strong Candida like symptoms — itching and sharp pains….down there. In turn, endo flared up.

Sitting in my cubicle at work yesterday morning, I had a flash back of how I used to feel on a near daily basis and feelings of panic started to break through. Should I stop the cleanse? I thought again, as urine burned out of me.

Then…. another a-ha moment, Lol.

When I was sick with strep a couple of weeks back I invested in a big bag of pesticide free red reishi mushroom powder from Mood and Mind. The instructions with it recommend to mix a teaspoon of the powder with warm water in the morning, on an empty stomach. It tastes not so good 🙂

I put the bag in one of my cabinets in my cubicle at work with thoughts of drinking it each morning. A habit that failed to stick, as its presence slipped from my mind…. till then.

I grabbed my mug and struggled to walk (ouch) to fill it with some warm water. I added a teaspoon of the powder, stirred it up, then drank it up. As I waited for it to work I did a little Googling and found out more about the super powers of red reishi mushrooms for healing.

Benefits of Red Reishi Mushrooms on Immunity

Red reishi mushrooms help restore your immune system to a place of balance and equilibrium. They stimulate the immune system if needed or take the response down if needed (as is the case with auto immune diseases).

They contain polysaccharides — complex carbohydrates that promote slow releasing energy for your brain and nervous system. Polysaccharides have been shown to stimulate immune cells to turn into macrophages — a crucial piece of your immune system that destroys pathogens.

Polysaccharides promote Immunoglobin G — a major class of antibodies that improve white blood cell’s ability to destroy invaders in your body and neutralize toxins. They also lengthen the memory of T cells, which are taught to detect, mark and eliminate pathogens — hello out of control Candida 🙂

Red reishi mushrooms play a big role in healing your gut and have been said to bring your body’s Candida index down — Yay! They have also been shown to help improve liver function and protect your liver tissue against oxidative stress.

Red Reishi mushrooms are adaptogenic. They keep your body grounded, regardless of outside influences, improving anxiety, stress and fatigue. The help moderate blood sugar levels and contain potassium, magnesium, calcium and fiber.

On the Positive Side?

After drinking the red reishi powder yesterday morning and this morning I am feeling much better 🙂

This feeling of well being makes it worth the yucky taste in getting it down. Next time I think I will go with tablets instead of the powder, Lol.

The red reishi mushroom is originally from China. Ancient Chinese drawings include the red reishi mushroom often with many depictions of the magical, powerful quality of it. It has been used for centuries to heal.

I felt its magic too and am very grateful 🙂

Have you tried red reishi mushrooms? Did they help you?

With much love,
