It’s the fourth and final week within a month’s exploration into the lower “body” chakras, which are most impacted by endometriosis. (Read more about chakras, energy & endometriosis here.)

In conjunction with this, I’m hosting a month of free live guided group meditation sessions with focus on each week’s chakra point. (Find out more and sign-up to join us here.)

This week we’re exploring the fourth heart chakra, which is located mid-chest near your heart and lungs.

Your heart chakra sits at the center of the lower “body” chakras and the upper “spiritual” ones. It’s a powerful intermingling space.

It’s where your soul’s true expression comes through and experiences life in your body.

The color of the heart chakra is green or pink. It’s represented by the earthly element of air, wind and gaseous matter.

Heart Chakra Physical Connections

Your heart chakra connects your thymus gland and cardiac nerve plexus.

Physically your heart chakra reigns over your circulatory and respiratory systems, along with your lymphatic and immune systems.

Physical issues with your heart chakra show up as disruptions with your thoracic spine, upper back and shoulders, heart conditions and asthma.

On a mental level your heart chakra has to do with letting go, forgiveness and emotional intimacy.

Your heart space holds soul energy of hope, love and peace. It has to do with feelings of pure unconditional love, compassion, gratitude, self-acceptance and equanimity.

Your heart chakra deals with social identify, forgiveness, wisdom and deeper soul issues.

Emotional blockages in your heart chakra show up as difficulty with love, lack of hope, compassion, confidence, despair, mood, envy, fear, jealously, anger and anxiety.

Heart Chakra History

Your heart chakra physically and energetically connects to your sacral chakra. (Read more about the sacral chakra here.)

Your sacral chakra is where relationship issues show up and the same is true in the heart space. It’s all about love. That includes the love you have for others, and more importantly for yourself.

Your heart space holds past memories and can be a storage depot for heavy emotions.

As is true in the shadow space of the sacral chakra, the shadow side of the heart space can be deep and hold traumatic imprints.

But once you’re ready to explore those shadow parts, you open up the door to healing on a deeper level.

Your Soul’s Code

Your heart space connects with your soul purpose. What are you here to do?

I recently finished a book called The Soul’s Code: In Search of Character and Calling by James Hillman.

Hillman proposed that you’re born into this world with a calling to do and to be. He called it the “acorn theory” — the idea that our lives are formed by a particular image, just as the oak’s destiny is contained in the tiny acorn.

Hillman said that, “the acorn theory expresses that unique something that we carry into the world, that is particular to us.”

This calling shapes your life from the way you were raised, to the career paths you choose, to the social and personal commitments you achieve in your time here on earth.

When you start to look at life this way, you’ll see that even struggle and suffering’s here to shape your soul towards its destiny.

I know that the physical and emotional pain I’ve experienced has stimulated my own personal spiritual exploration because it connects with the never ending question, Why? Why me?

Follow your heart.

Perhaps you’re still seeking your soul purpose and don’t know the answer right now. Perhaps an easier question to answer: What excites you? What lights you up?

What are you good at? This is a perfect indicator of what you were put here to do.

To help you define your natural strengths, I highly recommend the book StrengthsFinders. The book and accompanying test changed my life’s course.

Based on my strengths, it recommended a career path that my heart always longed for. It pointed me back towards writing and teaching others.

The power’s in your hands.

Your hands are an extension of your heart space. They serve as tools to help build and nurture your life’s creations.

Writing is an extension of my heart energy and I believe it’s the gateway to my higher Self. When beautiful words flow through me, I’m reminded of this soul connection. There are times when I can’t help but think, Wow. Where did that come from?

I’ve pinpointed many great truths with the help of a pen and paper. There’s magic when the words flow through me in this way, allowing truth, wisdom and subconscious unfolding from the light & shadows of my heart.

Since getting more involved with energy work and receiving my Reiki attunements last year, I’ve connected even more with the power of my hands.

Every morning before I get up for the day I do Reiki on myself. I scan my body and place my hands over the parts that are sore or achy and put focused breath there for a few minutes.

I’m always amazed at how effective this is.

How to Support Your Heart Chakra

#1. Create something with your hands.

Write, paint, draw, knit, color, garden, cook, sew, meld, or shape. Get your hands involved and feel the power of creation and connection to your heart and sacral spaces.

#2. Hugs.

Notice how much better you feel after a nice hug? It brings physical loving connection with another in open expansion of your heart energy.

#3. Let go.

The heart can be a storage depot for old emotions. To help clear energetic blocks, it’s necessary to let things go.

Letting go comes with forgiveness. Life’s too short to hold on to anger, resentment and bitterness. Forgiveness doesn’t condone the behavior of others. Forgive for you, not for them.

Letting go allows space for the true energies of the heart space to flow through: love, peace and hope.

Set your intention, get clear on what you want, then leave the rest up to the Divine. Let go of the outcome and enjoy the journey.

#4. Make self-care a priority.

Make space each day for you. Do what supports your soul. Rest when your body’s tired. Fill your body with nourishing foods. Take care of you, love. Fill your own cup first.

#5. Meditate.

Meditation helps bring some peace and calm into your day. It allows you to find stillness and connect to the messages of your heart.

It can also help to move out stagnate energy and balance out of your heart chakra.

On the Positive Side?

When your heart chakra is balanced you feel complete and whole, compassionate, friendly, optimistic, motivated and outgoing.

When you connect back to your heart, you connect with your soul and your true reasons for why you’re here.

I’m grateful that I’ve connected with that, and I’m grateful that you’re here to read some of my heart energy.

Endometriosis has forced me to feel in ways that many don’t understand. It has brought an immense amount of emotional and physical pain that stimulated the natural part of me that wants to know, why.

That pull is what stimulated this space here on the Internet that’s expanded into a worldwide Peace with Endo community.

The pull and purpose in my heart space has inspired me to bring greater connection to this community in an online space that allows face to face conversation, compassion and healing between powerful endo sisters.

More on this next week…. stay tuned!

In the meantime, I invite you to put even greater focus on your heart chakra with the final live group meditation session. Sign-up to join us here.

Much Love,
